It is really easy to start an Affiliate Marketing business. Just use your search engines and you can visualize how many products there are out there that you can represent. All you have to do is find a product(s) that you want to sell and get after it!
First of all you need to execute a game plan and do some research on different products. When you are doing research, your topics or products that you come up with should be associated with your personal interest. After all, if you don't have an interest in the topic, you're not going to be able to write about it and sell it. Find yourself 5 or 6 topics and come up with 5-10 keywords per topic.
If you have not subscribed to Wordtracker, then I highly suggest that you do. It will prove to be well worth your time, and is only cents per day to subscribe to. Use Wordtracker to confirm at least 1,000 searches per day on the search engines.
Once you find the keywords that have the highest search values, then you can search Google, Commission Junction, and Clickbank, for relevant products that draw your interest, have the highest commissions, and are readily available.
I highly recommend that you build a website.
Go ahead and register your domain to establish a name for your website. I recommend Third Sphere, or Bluehost. Either one of these sites can help you build your site, file your domain name, and host your site. Be sure to install wordpress blog on your site. Choose yourself a theme, set up your widgets and blog catagories, and then you start writing.
Develop some content for your Site.
You want to inform your potential customers with your About page, Disclaimer, Disclosure, and Privacy pages.
Create yourself about 7 - 8 articles related to your topic and post them to your website. You can write your own articles, or you can contract a ghost writer like Elance, to write articles for you. The point being that you want to get content on your site as quick as possible, because the more content you have, the more the search engines are going to recognize your site.
Make sure you Monetize your Site:
Place contextual advertising on your site. Sign up for Google Adsense and other contextual advertising vehicles. Make sure you get the code and place it on your site.
Join Affliate Programs through some major affiliate networks. You can place links directly related to the product within the articles that you write. You can also link to onsite merchant copy and product endorsements from articles.
Sell Ad Space on your site directly to merchants. This will come later after you have established yourself in the market.
Market Your Site:
Ping your website. A complete list of update services to ping is available on Wordpress Codex.
Build yourself a subscriber list. I would recommend feed delivery through Feedburner's
free service, and also use an autoreponder service such as Aweber.
Hopefully, these are few helpful hints to get you going. The best advice I can give you is to keep posting entries on your website, add products and services, and build your subscriber base using the methods above.
